LEGACY Company History
In 2001, John D. Elder, III established a unique, nonprofit organization to assist senior managers displaced by Enron’s collapse. This initiative, known as the Resource Alliance Group, engaged numerous business leaders from across key industries, including the finance community, to help in the endeavor.
During this process, John came to understand and appreciate the magnitude of the opportunities that a deregulated energy environment represented. To capitalize on these opportunities, John developed a practical and customer-centric business model.
To further his plan, John recruited a group of seasoned energy advisors to validate his vision and crystallize a business plan that would ensure efficient and effective entry into energy opportunities in the deregulated energy model of Texas. Today, many of those original employees and advisors remain intimately involved in developing his evolving vision and business model known as LEGACY Energy Solutions.
The company began operations in 2003 with a core group of three people (all volunteers), one product (Bill Auditing) and a relentless passion to succeed and serve. After 12 months, the business model was validated, initial versions of the current technology were completed, and scalable processes had been defined.
Today, LEGACY serves more than 300 clients across multiple Market Segments and enjoys a 97 percent customer retention rate. The business model, based on product leadership, operational excellence and customer intimacy, has clearly differentiated the company from the competition.
